Sunday Drive to Yellowlees Farm

We heard of Yellowlees Farm on the show “Off The Beaten Palate“. Since food sourcing is an activity we enjoy, we made the hour and a half drive to Nestleton on Sunday afternoon to get farm-fresh lamb. We were met by farm owner Karen who was very welcoming and enthusiastic in answering all our farm queries. Aside from different lamb cuts, they have savoury lamb pies, lamb buns and lamb sausages in a variety of flavours. Check out all their products. They only take cash or cheque, and we had neither. Not a problem. A short drive from the farm is an ATM-equipped general store.

They feed the sheep hay and grain that they grow themselves on the farm.

I already had a savoury lamb pie for lunch yesterday. The house smelled so good while it was heating up in the oven. For dinner last night, we had roasted rack of lamb….so tender and moist! I seasoned it with salt, pepper and Herbes de Provence. Broiled it in the oven until it turned a light golden brown. (If it wasn’t raining I would have done it on the outdoor grill.)

Took it out of the oven and coated it with panko bread crumbs, crushed almonds, garlic powder and melted butter, combined.

Put it back in the oven on 350ยบ and used a meat thermometer to get it to medium rare/well.
