I turned another year older over the weekend, and in our family, more often than not, we celebrate with home-cooked meals. With the school year over, my daughter’s home in time for my birthday.
We’re always thrilled to have her home because she loves to cook! For my birthday breakfast she made wholesome Walnut and Fig Waffles (recipe here). These waffles are hearty. They’re perfect for a weekend brunch. The sweetness of the fig filled the kitchen with a wonderful aroma as the waffles were cooking.
The recipe calls for black Mission Figs but can be substituted with golden Fancy Figs.
We like ‘em chunky!
The beautiful serviette is part of the gift package I received from my daughter.
Very happy with this Cuisinart Wafflemaker. It consistently turns out crisp, golden waffles.
Now, that is breakfast.
I like mine with Maple syrup.
Waffles + Coffee. Salamat, Francine!
