We almost always order Wakame Seaweed Salad whenever we go to a Japanese restaurant. It seems easy enough to make, but I’ve never tried preparing it myself until this past weekend. I got a tub of fresh seaweed from the Chinese store. I’m not really sure if it’s wakame. The label says ‘Fresh Seaweed’. It looks like wakame but sliced thicker than the seaweed served in restaurants.
I rinsed it in hot water and drained it well. It’s a beautiful green…looks so fresh!
Here it is dressed with rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, toasted sesame seeds, sesame oil, and chili flakes. I let it marinate overnight. I like how crunchy it is, and the light dressing allows you to enjoy the natural flavour of the seaweed.
