Pre-delivery Inspection

We did the PDI on the new house this morning with Andrea Sigismondo, Branthaven Service Technician. Before we arrived, he had already marked some cosmetic imperfections with post-its. The glass shower door is on back-order and the bathroom hardware will be installed after the closing so we can tell them exactly where we want them. I’m glad they didn’t install the hardware because it gives us time to rethink the placement. The hardwood flooring on the entire main floor makes the house look bigger and creates visual continuity from room to room. The colours and materials we picked came together rather nicely. I was a bit worried about the choices we made for the bathrooms but they turned out nicely, too. I love the 12″ deep kitchen sink and the quartz counter top. Oh and I can’t wait to put my pots and pans in those pull-out drawers :) We forgot to check the vacuum pan under the pantry :|

We’re very happy with our Branthaven house! Only a few more sleeps before we get the key!

Love the kitchen! It’s so bright even with the deep espresso cabinetry.

  1. I don’t remember what kind of wood we picked for the kitchen cabinets. I’ll have to look at my files at home this weekend and will get back to you on that.
The supplier is http://www.barzotti.com/. The doors are Shaker style and the colour is Tea (although in my blog posts I refer to the colour as espresso).

    Hope that helps.

  2. Hi Katherine-

I recently came across your website when searching for the perfect kitchen! I was inspired by your cabinets and countertops- they are beautiful! I am in the process of picking out my finishes, and I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of cabinets did you use- brand, wood, color?

    Thank you!

  3. Thanks, Anita! Our hardwood is birch in Cinnamon. I’m very happy with the choices we made for the kitchen. I was worried the kitchen would be too dark but it turned out bright and airy even with the espresso cabinets.

  4. Hi,

I came across your blog when I did a Google Images search for espresso cabinets. Anyhow, I was wondering what your hardwood is (oak?) and what stain? I absolutely love your kitchen. We’re having our home built for early 2010 and next week, I have to make some choices pertaining to cabinet stain, hardwood stain and so forth. I’m definitely aiming for the same colors as the ones in your kitchen.

I also wanted to add that I looked at some other sections of your blog and you are an awesome photographer! Wow, your food pics pratically made me drool! :-)

    Kind Reagrds,

    Anita in Canada :-)
