Although summer isn’t officially over until Sept. 22nd, when kids go back to school on Tuesday, somehow it will feel like summer is over. This is summer’s last long weekend and we decided to stay close to home. On Saturday, we had lunch at Niagara-on-the-Lake, walked around a bit and enjoyed ice cream at Cow’s before crossing the border to Buffalo, NY for some shopping. On the way back at night, we stopped by the falls for some night shooting until midnight. Between 10 p. m. to midnight is the best time to view the falls. Around this time, the crowds have gone, it’s quiet and you’ll be able to take better photos.
If you haven’t been to Niagara Falls, it is illuminated at night by powerful spotlights set atop a hill across the street. The cloudy formation in the center of the falls is thick mist that rises when the thundering water hits the water below.
